জিও টেক্সটাইল মানে কিঃ
জিও অর্থ হলো “ভূ” এবং টেক্সটাইল অর্থ হলো “বোনা কাপড়” অর্থাৎ জিও টেক্সটাইল হল মাটির স্থায়িত্ব বৃদ্ধি, ক্ষয় রোধ, তরল পদার্থের ফিল্টারেশনের জন্য ব্যবহৃত এক বিশেষ ধরনের কাপড়।
What does geotextile mean?
Geo means “earth” and textile means “woven cloth”. In other words, Geo Textile is a special type of fabric used to increase soil durability, prevent erosion, and filter liquids.

পলিয়েস্টার, পলিপ্রোপিলিন এবং পলিঅ্যামাইড সহ বিভিন্ন ধরনের কৃত্রিম সামগ্রী দ্বারা তৈরি খুব ক্ষুদ্র ছিদ্রবিশিষ্ট বিশেষ ধরনের কাপড়কেই জিও টেক্সটাইল বলে।

Geotextile is a special type of fabric with very small holes made of various synthetic materials including polyester, polypropylene, and polyamide.
জিও টেক্সটাইল ব্যবহারের শুরুঃ
জিও টেক্সটাইল মূলত দানাদার মাটির ফিল্টার গুলোর বিকল্প হিসেবে ব্যবহার শুরু হয়েছিল। জিও টেক্সটাইল গুলোর জন্য বহুল ব্যবহৃত শব্দটি হল ফিল্টার কাপড়। মূলত ১৯৫০ এর দশকে আর.জে. সর্বপ্রথম ব্যারেট প্রিস্টাস্ট কংক্রিট সমুদ্রতলের পিছনে জিও টেক্সটাইল গুলো ব্যবহার করেন, প্রিকাস্ট কংক্রিট ক্ষয় নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও অন্যান্য ক্ষয় নিয়ন্ত্রণের পরিস্থিতিতে মূলত জিও টেক্সটাইল গুলো ব্যবহার করা হয়। আর.জে. জিও টেক্সটাইল এর পর্যাপ্ত শক্তি এবং যথাযথ প্রসারের পাশাপাশি পর্যাপ্ত ব্যাপ্তি যোগ্যতা এবং মাটি ধরে রাখা, উভয় প্রয়োজনীয়তার বিষয়ে আলোচনা করেছিলেন এবং পরিস্রাবক পরিস্থিতিতে জিও টেক্সটাইল ব্যবহারের জন্য প্রস্তাবনা করেন। ১৯৬০ এর দশকের গোড়ার দিক থেকে, Non-Woven জিও টেক্সটাইল গুলো বিচ্ছেদ, পরিস্রাবণ, সুরক্ষা এবং নিষ্কাশন কাজের জন্য সিভিল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিংয়ের বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করা শুরু হয়।
Start using geotextiles:
Geotextiles were originally used as an alternative to granular soil filters. The most widely used term for geo-textiles is filter cloth. Originally in the 1950s, R.J. Barrett was the first to use precast concrete geo-textiles behind the seabed, pre-concrete erosion control and other erosion control situations. R.J. Adequate strength and proper expansion of geo-textiles as well as an adequate range of qualification and soil retention, both discussed the requirements and proposed for the use of geotextiles infiltration situations. From the early 1960s, non-woven geotextiles began to be used in various fields of civil engineering for separation, filtration, protection, and extraction work.

ব্যবহারের উপর ভিত্তি করে জিও টেক্সটাইলকে দুই ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়। যথাঃ-

- নন ওভেন জিও টেক্সটাইল
Geo Textile Types:
Geo textiles can be divided into two parts based on usage.
- Woven Geo Textile and
- Non woven Geo Textile
ওভেন জিও টেক্সটাইলঃ
জিও টেক্সটাইল ফেব্রিক গুলোর ভিতরে ওভেন টাইপ গুলোর ব্যবহার বেশি লক্ষ্য করা যায়। এদের warf এবং weft এতটাই মজবুত এবং নিছিদ্র হয় যে, এর ভিতর দিয়ে ইনফিল্ট্রেশন হয় না বললেই চলে। এবং এর warf টা এতটাই মজবুত যে, এটির টেনসাইল শক্তি অনেক বেশি পাওয়া যায়।
Woven Geo Textile:
The use of woven Geowoven types is more noticeable inside geotextile fabrics. Their warf and weft are so strong and impeccable that there is almost no infiltration through them. And its warf is so strong that its tensile strength is much higher.

ওভেন জিও টেক্সটাইল এর ব্যবহারঃ
- ড্যাম প্রুফিং বা আদ্রতা নিরসনে বেসমেন্টে পলিথিন পেপার এর বিপরীতে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- নতুন রোড এর বেড তৈরীতে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- নদীর তীরে কংক্রিটের ব্লক এর নিচে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- বিমান বন্দরের রানওয়ে তৈরীতে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- নদী, সমুদ্র সৈকতের তীরে ভাঙ্গন প্রতিরোধে ওভেন জিও টেক্সটাইল ফেব্রিকের বস্তার ভিতরে বালুভর্তি করে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Use of Woven Geo Textile:
- Dam proofing or moisture removal is used in contrast to polythene paper in the basement.
- Used to make new roadbeds.
- The bottom of the concrete block on the river bank is used.
- Used to build airport runways.
- Oven Geo is used to filling sandbags inside sacks of textile fabric to prevent erosion on river, beach shores.
নন ওভেন জিও টেক্সটাইলঃ
নন ওভেন জিও টেক্সটাইল সুইং-পাঞ্চিং নামে একটি প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে তৈরি করা হয়। এই ধরনের ফেব্রিক এর মধ্য দিয়ে পানি ফিল্ট্রেশনের ব্যবস্থা থাকে। মূলত যে সমস্ত স্থানে ওয়াটার ফিল্টার এর প্রয়োজন হয় ঐ সমস্ত জায়গায় non-woven জিও টেক্সটাইল ফেব্রিক ব্যবহৃত হয়। তবে এই ধরনের ফেব্রিক গুলোও নদীর তীরে মাটি ক্ষয় রোধে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Non-woven Geo Textile:
Non-oven geotextiles are made through a process called swing-punching. This type of fabric has a water filtration system. Non-woven geotextile fabrics are mainly used in places where water filters are required. However, such fabrics are also used to prevent soil erosion on river banks.
